Feb. 27th, 2011

So, the first month of my 101 in 1001 time is over. Unfortunately, it was an a bit more chaotic month than I would have liked. I had a car accident on February 15 which totalled my car and meant I spent a lot of time organizing getting a new one and assorted things.

None of my goals are completed yet and the list is still not completed, but I have some progress.

001: Keep a list of books I've read
I have added two more books (The Fall of Neskaya and Zandru's Forge, both by MZB) and one audiobook (A Long Way Down, by Nick Hornby) this month.

006: See three plays, a musical, a ballet, and an opera
We had tickets for a play last Friday, but unfortunately the play was cancelled 1 hour before it was due to start.

011: Donate 20€ 33 times
I donated 20€ to DayZeroProject, which seemed like a fitting start.

016: Squat 80% of my body weight and bench press 40% of my body weight
I am now pressing 20 kilograms, which is about 26% of my body weight. I deadlift 25 kilograms (33%) and probably squat about the same amount.

028: Earn 2,000 points on Stackoverflow
Up to 340 now.

030: Visit 3 countries
Tentatively planning to go to the US this summer. This all depends on whether the boy gets accepted into a summer school at Yale.

040: Hang up more pictures in the flat
I hung up a few pictures above my desk and a big calendar in the entrance. There are still a few more things on my list, though.

045: Read all Darkover books
Two read so far.
Why do I want to do this?

It's fun and an outdoors activity. I want to find the time for this.

I'll record this hopefully with pictures :)
What's this about?

30 days without buying anything that isn't necessary - necessities are food and other utilities around the house, transportation and repairing or replacing things that broke.

Why do I want to do this?

It will help me become more aware of my spending.

How will I know when I've done this?

I will have gone for 30 days without purchasing anything that isn't covered in the above categories.

I'll record this here when I start and when I finish.
There is a wonderful river right behind the house I live in. I want to go kayaking on it.
Puzzles are fun and I go up to 1,000 or 2,000 without much problems. But 5,000 sounds like a fun challenge. Only need to find out how to do that without the cats destroying everything.
I have tried this a few times, but never for long. I think it is very doable if one tries for a while and I want to learn this. I will count this as done once I hav successfully juggled with three balls for half a minute.
